Once upon a time there was a lovely daucus_carota, far lovelier than any other daucus caroti. It just so happened that this extraordinary daucus_carota (we'll call her Queen J) migrated to the sometimes temperate region of Atlantaland, southwest of the columbian district and northeast of alabamaland. D.carota, though decidedly biennial in every other aspect of her personality, chose july 17 to be the annual celebration of her birth, and rightfully so. You see, being so easily mistaken for the deadly water hemlock (someone she swears she only dabbles with on rare occasion), she oft coifs her fine hair and stems to accentuate the single dark red flower of her heart. Clearly, she most definitely is a more cultivated form of our species and I, for one, am honoured to know her rarity. ~ Happy Birthday!

Aw, such a sweet moment in a mother/son relationship when the son calls the mom a nerd. My son called me a "nerd" tonight. He is taking classes this summer so he can graduate high school in 3 years instead of 4. I was helping him with his algebra and got real excited that we figured out this one problem together. It was one of those crazy equations with about 22 steps. By the time we reached the answer, I was giddy with glee. Maybe I am a nerd, or hey maybe I just miss doing algebra problems. I always thought they were kind of fun, like puzzles.

TRIBUTE TO A FUNKY BROTHA


Allen Alert was a great friend to HALO, the Atlanta underground nightlife community and me personally. He had a vision for great nightlife and refused to compromise this vision. He loved music and lived to perform.

A few months ago, Allen went to Switzerland to live and DJ. In early June, Allen suffered unexpected medical trauma and passed away. So unexpected for someone who lived a fairly healthy lifestyle.

Atlanta's nightlife community was shell-shocked and decided to throw this event tonight to celebrate the life of Allen Allert and to raise money for Allen Allert's family to give him a proper burial. We will be collecting funds at the door ($5 donation) as well as making a donation plus contributing a hefty percentage of your drink sales to the cause.

A Hotel Costes Box set will be raffled off to raise money as well.
